Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment are seeking caring, resilient Learning Support Assistants to join a small independent SEMH school near Plymouth. This long-term, temp-to-perm role supports pupils aged 9–14 with SEMH needs in a therapeutic setting.

You will work with a dedicated team to help pupils manage anxiety and develop social, emotional and academic skills, mainly at primary level, in a calm and safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEND or SEMH needs.
• Patient, resilient and calm under pressure.
• Flexible and adaptable with a positive, encouraging attitude.
• Able to commute to a rural location near Plymouth; driving licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs in class and small groups with experienced educators.
• Help pupils manage anxiety, dysregulation and sensory needs using calm strategies.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support social, emotional and academic development (mainly primary level).
• Help maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding and behaviour policies.
