Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated practitioner at Oakfield Short Stay School to support pupils with diverse needs. You will contribute to plans and interventions designed to overcome barriers to learning and improve engagement.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies, with a trauma-informed approach to foster inclusion and positive attendance, working within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• BTEC National/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience, or educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs in a school or similar setting.
• Experience of supporting pupils with low attendance through targeted interventions.
• Experience of working with external agencies to support pupils.
• Competence in using ICT for routine purposes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, delivery and evaluation of pupil interventions, identifying how pupils can be best supported.
• Run programmes for individuals or groups to build knowledge and confidence for reintegration.
• Liaise with teaching staff to set targets and keep parents informed, evaluating progress toward goals.
