Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Class Teacher for Oakfield Short Stay School, Blaby, to support pupils with SEMH and C&I needs in a small-group setting.

You will deliver a creative curriculum, build confidence, and progress, with opportunities to contribute to outreach across the county, offering guidance to support placements in mainstream schools and act as a Local Authority officer when needed.

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher status or recent professional development/training.
  • Ability to create a safe, inclusive learning environment that motivates learners.
  • Experience working with SEND, SEMH and C&I needs.
  • We welcome additional curriculum strengths such as sport, art or music.
  • Excellent communicator with strong leadership to inspire a team.
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence to build meaningful relationships with learners with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a small group of pupils with SEMH and C&I needs.
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons and assess progress.
  • Contribute to outreach work across the county and observe pupils in mainstream settings.
  • Provide tailored recommendations to support inclusion in mainstream schools.
  • Lead across the curriculum and develop leadership skills within the team.
