Job summary

Leicestershire County Council’s Oakfield Short Stay School seeks a dedicated Maths teacher to support pupils at risk of exclusion across sites. The role requires creative, trauma‑informed pedagogy and strong engagement with learners with complex SEMH needs.

You will plan and deliver lessons to small groups, work with educational psychologists and SEN coordinators to support reintegration, and promote inclusive practice. DBS enhanced check is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher status. Maths specialism preferable.
• Experience with pupils with special educational needs in secondary settings.
• Experience teaching pupils with challenging SEMH needs.
• Experience in educational development and planning.
• Knowledge of SEN legislation and county SEN policy.
• Ability to provide leadership and support to staff.
• Effective IT skills to develop service delivery and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Teach and plan Maths lessons for small groups to raise engagement.
• Assist in reintegration of pupils back into mainstream schools.
• Collaborate with educational psychologists, SEN coordinators and external agencies.
• Promote inclusive practice ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.
