Job summary

Compass Community Schools is opening a brand new school in Newton-le-Willows, welcoming pupils in January 2027. We are seeking Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support teachers, deliver targeted sessions, and help create a nurturing, trauma-informed learning environment for students with SEMH and SEND.

HLTAs will lead planning, resourcing and delivery in areas such as Performing Arts, Computing, Humanities, Design Technology, Criminology, Health & Beauty, and more, while supporting classroom

Responsibilities

• 1:1 or small group sessions with children
• manage classroom resources
• take children on trips and visits
• eat lunch with children who struggle socially
• manage heightened behaviours and keep children safe
• play board games and engage in other activities
• conduct science experiments
• make displays
• celebrate success
• participate in therapy sessions and reflect on difficult periods
