Job summary

Oak Haven School in the United Kingdom is seeking a passionate HLTA to join our SEMH-focused team. You will support a small cohort of primary learners with a bespoke, trauma‑informed approach, fostering emotional regulation and academic growth.

You will work closely with leaders and staff to deliver practical, differentiated learning, build relationships, and help learners re-engage with education in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• An HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience is essential.
• Experience of specialist SEND or SEMH provision is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, practical and differentiated learning activities to a small cohort of primary-aged learners.
• Support the development and implementation of a bespoke curriculum that responds to individual needs, interests and abilities.
• Establish safe, predictable and nurturing learning environments where learners feel valued and ready to learn.
• Use trauma-informed, relational and restorative approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Develop learners’ communication, literacy, numeracy, independence and social skills.
• Plan and deliver purposeful, hands-on learning experiences including outdoor and real‑life learning.
• Monitor and record learners’ progress, engagement and wellbeing, contributing to assessment and reviews.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, families and professionals to promote positive outcomes.
• Maintain high expectations while recognising progress may look different for every learner.
