Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a compassionate Education Support Worker to support young people in a specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon. You will build positive relationships and help with learning, wellbeing and development.

The role involves mentoring pupils with complex trauma, emotional and behavioural needs, providing consistent support and role modeling. Full training and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in supporting children and young people.
• Empathetic, patient and approachable nature.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring, encouragement and emotional support to pupils.
• Support young people with complex trauma, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Help pupils engage with education and classroom activities.
• Build trusting and positive relationships with individual pupils.
• Support pupils' social and emotional development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other education professionals.
• Accompany pupils to occasional off-site meetings, appointments or activities.
• Use your initiative to respond appropriately to individual pupil needs.
