Family Action North Somerset is seeking a qualified Domestic Abuse Counsellor to provide inclusive, trauma-informed counselling for young people aged 14+ and adult survivors across Somerset.

You will develop and deliver psycho-educational groups, undertake assessments, manage safeguarding, and support volunteers delivering group provision.

This permanent post is 14.8 hours weekly, based in Weston-super-Mare with travel across the area, and offers a pro-rata salary of £28,884–£31,698 FTE.

Competenze

• Professional counselling/psychotherapy qualification with Level 5 diploma and working towards Level 6.
• Registration with BACP, UKCP or another relevant professional body.
• Experience counselling survivors of domestic abuse, trauma-informed practice, and with young people 14–25.

Mansioni

• Provide inclusive counselling for 14+ youth and adult survivors of domestic abuse.
• Plan, deliver, evaluate psycho-educational pre-therapy groups and post-counselling support.
• Undertake counselling and group assessments, manage clinical risk and safeguarding.
• Develop and deliver training for volunteer group facilitators.
• Maintain confidential records and use outcome measures to inform delivery.
• Liaise with referrers and other professionals; signpost when needed.
• Attend in-house Family Action training and clinical supervision.
