Job summary

Family Action is seeking two Domestic Abuse Counsellors in Gloucestershire to support survivors in safe accommodation. The roles are office-based in Dursley with countywide travel and require a 20-hour per week commitment under a fixed-term contract to March 2027.

Ideal candidates will have Level 5 counselling/psychotherapy and accreditation progress, with experience in domestic abuse and trauma-informed practice, plus a commitment to inclusive, confidential care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 5 qualification in counselling/psychotherapy.
  • Recognised professional accreditation or working towards accreditation.
  • Experience in domestic abuse, trauma-informed practice, and diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inclusive counselling for adult survivors in safe accommodation.
  • Carry out initial assessments to determine need and risk.
  • Maintain confidential records of sessions and plans.
  • Use outcome tools to monitor well-being and risk.
  • Liaise with referrers and other professionals as required.
