Job summary

Wilderness Way in the United Kingdom is seeking a Childrens Residential Team Leader to drive outstanding care and lead a dedicated team. You’ll oversee shifts, coach staff, and champion trauma-informed practice to support children to thrive.

You'll work hands-on, deputise for senior leaders when required, and contribute to audits, safeguarding, and continuous improvement across the home. A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare is required, with progression opportunities within Wilderness Way.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
• Experience in residential childcare with emotional, behavioural or complex needs.
• Leadership experience: coaching, mentoring, shift leadership or supporting development of colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and decisions to ensure safe, high-quality care.
• Coach, mentor and support Residential Support Workers to build confidence and best practice.
• Champion trauma-informed care and nurture environments where children thrive.
• Ensure children's voices are heard and reflected in care and support.
• Promote education, wellbeing and independence through daily opportunities.
• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and records; maintain high standards and compliance.
• Lead safeguarding on shift and support colleagues in safe decisions.
• Work with families, schools and therapists to achieve positive outcomes.
• Support audits, inspections and continuous improvement to sustain outstanding services.
• Deputise for senior leaders and drive day-to-day operation of the home.
