Job summary

Wilderness Way in Penrith is seeking a Children's Residential Team Leader to drive exceptional care within the home. You will lead shifts, mentor teams and shape the day-to-day delivery of services, ensuring children feel safe, valued and supported to reach their potential.

You will oversee care planning, safeguarding and regulatory compliance while promoting trauma-informed approaches and collaborative working with families and professionals.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience in residential childcare, including supporting children with emotional, behavioural or complex needs.
• Demonstrated leadership through coaching, mentoring, shift leadership or team development.
• Be 21 or over due to care setting requirements.
• Right to work in the UK; sponsorship not available.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving with children.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and ensure safe, consistent, high-quality care for children.
• Coach, mentor and support Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers.
• Champion trauma-informed care and nurture positive environments where children thrive.
• Ensure children's voices are heard and reflected in care and support.
• Promote education, wellbeing and independence through everyday opportunities.
• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and records to maintain high care standards and regulatory compliance.
• Lead safeguarding practices on shift and support colleagues in decision-making.
• Collaborate with families, schools and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
• Support audits, inspections and continuous improvement to maintain outstanding services.
• Deputise for senior leaders when required and help run daily operations.
