Job summary

Summergil School in Powys is seeking a dedicated Behaviour and Wellbeing Practitioner to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning. You will work with classroom and therapeutic teams to deliver trauma-informed, relational support that helps pupils thrive.

The role requires experience with challenging behaviour, knowledge of PBS or similar frameworks, and the ability to stay calm and empathetic.

Qualifications

• Experience with children and young people with challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of PBS or similar behaviour frameworks.
• Ability to stay calm, empathetic and solution-focused.
• Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
• Experience in a special school or residential/alternative provision.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, or wellbeing challenges.
• Respond to incidents of distressed behaviour ensuring safety.
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation and resilience.
• Work with classroom teams to de-escalate and re-engage learners.
• Model trauma-informed, therapeutic and relational practices.
• Coach and mentor colleagues in positive behaviour strategies.
• Support implementation and review of behaviour and wellbeing plans.
• Collaborate with families and therapeutic teams for holistic support.
• Contribute to safeguarding and promote an inclusive school culture.
