Job summary

Summergil School in Powys is seeking a dedicated Behaviour and Wellbeing Practitioner to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning. You will work across classrooms, collaborating with education and therapeutic teams to apply trauma-informed and relational approaches.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or similar behaviour frameworks.
• Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting colleagues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, or wellbeing challenges.
• Respond effectively to incidents of distressed behaviour, ensuring safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff.
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, coping strategies, and positive relationships.
• Work alongside classroom teams to de-escalate situations and support re-engagement in learning.
• Model trauma-informed, therapeutic, and relational practices throughout the school.
• Coach and mentor colleagues in positive behaviour support and wellbeing strategies.
• Support the implementation and review of Positive Behaviour Support Plans and wellbeing interventions.
• Work closely with families, education professionals, and therapeutic teams to provide holistic support for pupils.
• Contribute to safeguarding and promote a positive, inclusive school culture.
