We offer the opportunity to work within a highly specialised team managing a caseload of trauma patients with varying diagnoses and complex needs. If interested, this role could be for you!

This role is for a band 7 registered nurse.

You will need to utilise evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical area, ensuring the delivery of the highest quality patient-centred care.

Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training, and annual appraisal.

Contribute to the maintenance and development of the service and divisional objectives.

Take a lead for information management to ensure high-quality data recording, evaluation, and reporting in a timely manner.

Participate in planning, developing, and evaluating clinical practice and service development within the area.

Maintain professional standards aligned with trust standards and values at all times.

Main duties of the job

Be professionally accountable for all aspects of your work and management of clinical risk within your caseload.

  • Carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, providing advanced therapeutic assessment, evaluation, and coordination.
  • Provide detailed written treatment plans with patient-centred goals.
  • Work autonomously as a member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to discussions and influencing patient care decisions.
  • Collaborate with the wider MDT to coordinate patient pathways, including repatriation, complex discharge, referrals to rehabilitation, and timely completion of rehabilitation prescriptions.
  • Support all aspects of the service, leading reporting and assurance locally, and contributing to network and divisional reporting requirements.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse
  • Intravenous accreditation
  • 2 years at Sister/Charge Nurse level and meets KSF outline for Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 6)
  • Experience working in a small, efficient, fast-paced team environment

Skills

  • Minimum 3 years recent experience within Orthopaedic trauma or related specialty, with 5 years post-registration experience.
  • Relevant post-registration courses (e.g., Emergency Nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing)
  • Experience with TARN database input and data analysis
