Job summary

InPost UK is seeking a Transport Team Manager to lead our Glasgow/Bellshill transport operations. You will coordinate collections and deliveries, manage drivers, and work closely with the Sort Centre to ensure smooth, compliant transport and service continuity.

The role blends hands-on leadership with strategic oversight, requiring proven transport operations experience, familiarity with transport management systems, and knowledge of drivers’ hours.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in transport operations.

• Up-to-date knowledge of drivers’ hours and working time regulations.
• Transport CPC – desirable.
• Previous people management experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily transport activity to ensure on-time performance and service levels.
• Lead driver briefings and debriefings for employed, subcontracted, and agency drivers.
• Monitor driver performance using operational data and reporting tools.
• Track KPIs and take corrective action where needed to improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations and Operating Licence standards.
• Promote health and safety across the site and manage risk.
• Support absence and performance management; escalate as needed.
• Investigate incidents and propose follow-up actions.
• Build relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Coordinate with the Sort Centre to streamline operations and improve throughput.
• Contribute to site-wide projects and improvements.
• Collaborate with union representatives as needed.
• Manage yard operations and trailer movements for timely bay availability.
• Adapt to peak periods and events.

About the role:

Are you an experienced transport professional ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a Transport Team Manager to join our transport operations at our busy Glasgow/Bellshill depot.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our parcel transport runs smoothly—from coordinating collections and deliveries to managing internal and external drivers. Working closely with our Sort Centre team, you’ll ensure service continuity and operational excellence across both functions.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll be the first point of contact for our transport team during your shift.

Location:

Inpost, 4 Rosehall Road Bellshill ML4 3NR.

Shift Pattern:

Monday - Friday

Hours:

14.00pm -22.30pm

Salary:

£30,231.35

What you’ll be doing:

• Oversee and deliver all scheduled transport activity, ensuring on‑time performance and service levels are met.
• Lead daily driver briefings and debriefings (employed, subcontractors, and agency).
• Monitor and improve driver performance using operational data and reporting tools.
• Track and respond to national and local KPIs, implementing corrective action where needed.
• Ensure legal compliance with all transport operations and uphold Operating Licence standards.
• Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety across the site.
• Proactively manage absence, performance, and other employee relations matters, escalating when necessary.
• Investigate transport and on-site incidents thoroughly and propose follow-up actions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Collaborate closely with the Sort Centre team to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Contribute to site‑wide and business‑wide projects.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with trade union representatives.
• Manage yard operations, ensuring smooth trailer movements and timely bay availability.
• Adapt quickly to demand changes during peak periods and special events.
• Act as deputy for the Shift Manager when required.

• Proven experience in transport operations
• Working knowledge of transport management systems
• Up-to‑date knowledge of drivers’ hours and working time regulations
• Transport CPC – desirable
• Previous people management experience (desirable)
• A proactive, collaborative approach and strong problem‑solving skills
• Ability to stay calm and effective under pressure
