Transport Team Leader

Salary £27,012.96 pa (£13.32 per hour)

Monday-Friday with flexibility to cover occasional Saturdays (paid overtime)

Hours: 39 per week, PM shift

Job Purpose

To drive, motivate, and be the first point of contact for Team Members in achieving daily operational targets set by the Management Team, focusing on guiding and developing staff. To plan and expedite the effective and efficient control of the Branch transport/distribution operation with budgeted targets and operational objectives.

Objectives
  • Drive daily performance of operatives to achieve or exceed budgeted productivity and quality targets within a transport operation in line with departmental KPIs.
  • Ensure all staff understand the principles of Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 68/01), reflected in our SOP – REF Chapter 1 AHDL GDP 1.1. Training in this SOP and annual refreshers are required for all staff. Other GDP training will be job-specific and as per your training matrix.
  • Deliver training on operational procedures and processes, including GDP and Transport SOPs, with a focus on housekeeping.
  • Endorse, promote, and manage our IIP culture through team briefings, training, and 121s, including return-to-work discussions for absences.
  • Support the Driver Team Manager in achieving departmental and company objectives.
  • Carry out reasonable requests by the Service Centre Management Team to promote company initiatives.
  • Monitor driver performance, provide training and support, and address issues.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Key Accountabilities
Financial control and profitability
  • Report transport failures and monitor corrective actions.
  • Record and investigate damaged or missing orders; assist in corrective actions.
Operating standards
  • Ensure customer deliveries are affected as prescribed.
  • Adopt and monitor company procedures/standards for transporting products.
  • Maintain vehicle security disciplines.
  • Keep all paperwork up to date (Well, OTC, and 3rd Party).
  • Maintain standards for vehicle and driver presentation.
  • Monitor order control, driver records, and customer service incidents.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Have overall operational knowledge to cover during absences and holidays.
  • Meet all Health & Safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in transportation or logistics, preferably in a team leader role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, route planning, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
