Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to oversee a 7-day-a-week transport operation at Coulsdon. You will lead a team of Partners and agency colleagues, ensuring productive, compliant operations that meet service targets.

The role requires experience in transport management, knowledge of EU Working Time regulations, and Health & Safety legislation. It is a 12-month fixed-term secondment with shift patterns 05:00–23:00 and 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Transport or Distribution management role.
• Strong knowledge of EU Working Time regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience managing disciplinary procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safety first: ensure compliance with Health & Safety and EU driving regulations.
• Lead and support the performance and wellbeing of your team.
• Drive continuous operational development and upskill initiatives.
• Manage productivity and resources to maintain budgets and implement process improvements.
• Act as deputy for the Transport Shift Manager and support operational tasks.
