Job summary

XPO Logistics is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor in Warrington to join a busy transport operation. You will plan daily movements for a fleet of 20+ articulated vehicles, manage the transport planning team and ensure compliance with drivers' hours and WTD.

You will lead and coordinate drivers and office staff, optimise schedules, monitor performance and maintain accurate records while upholding high standards of service and safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience managing/planning a fleet of 20+ articulated vehicles.
• Excellent working knowledge of UK geography, roads and transport networks.
• Strong knowledge of Drivers' Hours regulations and WTD.
• Proven experience leading and managing a transport office team.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Reliable, punctual and disciplined approach to work.
• Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the transport planning team, ensuring work is allocated effectively and completed to a high standard.
• Lead, motivate and support the transport office team, providing clear direction and maintaining strong team performance.
• Ensure vehicles and drivers are scheduled efficiently, considering delivery requirements, journey times, driver availability and legal restrictions.
• Use knowledge of UK geography and road networks to develop efficient transport plans.
• Monitor and manage driver hours, working time and operational compliance.
• Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours legislation and the Working Time Directive (WTD).
• Monitor vehicle and driver utilisation and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Deal with operational issues, delays, breakdowns and last-minute changes.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, management and other departments.
• Maintain accurate transport records and ensure procedures are followed.
• Support management with operational planning, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Ensure company policies, health and safety requirements and transport legislation are followed.

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Transport Supervisor to join our busy transport operation. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of UK transport and geography, together with proven experience planning and managing a fleet of 20+ articulated vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the transport department while leading and supporting a busy office-based planning team. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced transport professional who can work under pressure, make confident operational decisions and maintain high standards of service, compliance and efficiency.

Pay, Benefits And More

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £38,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days.
