Job summary

XPO Logistics in the United Kingdom is seeking a Transport Supervisor to lead the morning transport operation, supporting drivers and the wider team to deliver excellent service. The role runs Monday 04:00-12:30 and Tuesday-Friday 05:00-13:30, with a salary of £33,000 per annum and a benefits package including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, and discounts.

You will supervise AM operations, coach clerks, shunters and drivers, plan resources, and produce daily reports to monitor KPIs

Qualifications

• Monitor vehicle availability and utilisation to maximise fleet efficiency.

We're currently recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to join our operation. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the morning transport operation, supporting our drivers and operational teams while delivering exceptional service to our customers. This role works Monday 04:00-12:30 and Tuesday-Friday 05:00-13:30, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a growing and dynamic business.

What You'll Do On a Typical Day

• Manage the AM transport operation and ensure customer requirements are consistently met
• Support, coach and develop Debrief Clerks, Shunters and Drivers
• Plan and organise resources effectively to ensure all runs are covered efficiently
• Liaise with Customer Services and Planning teams to resolve operational issues and maintain service levels
• Manage Time & Attendance processes and respond to related employee queries
• Raise purchase orders and support defect-related administration processes
• Produce daily operational and performance reports for key stakeholders
• Monitor vehicle availability and utilisation to maximise fleet efficiency
• Support employee development and identify training requirements across the operation
• Ensure compliance with Driver Hours regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, transport legislation and company procedures
• Conduct licence checks and maintain high operational and compliance standards
• Support investigations, return-to-work interviews and disciplinary processes where required
• Ensure effective communication across the operation and provide clear shift handovers

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• Previous experience supervising or leading teams within a transport, logistics or operational environment
• A good understanding of transport compliance, driver hours legislation and operational best practice
• Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with drivers, customers and internal stakeholders
• Experience producing reports and working with operational KPIs would be advantageous
• A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering outstanding customer service
