Job summary

Culina Group is seeking a Transport Shift Manager for the Tilbury depot to lead a 24/7 night operation (6pm–6am, 4 on 4 off). You will supervise Transport Supervisors, support the Transport Manager, and drive cost control and service levels across the network.

Role requires strong leadership, robust resource planning, and a proactive approach to safety, training, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced logistics environment.

• Excellent organisation and communication skills.
• Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's.
• Excellent understanding of Health and Safety processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Depot Transport staff to meet service levels.
• Oversee resource planning for core drivers and agency drivers.
• Ensure fleet is on the road and declared to enable planning by the team.
• Monitor Kronos clocking and shift start/finish.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety processes and site procedures.
• Attend monthly customer review meetings and support service improvements.

Job description

Responsible for the 24/7 Transport operations, managing the Transport Supervisors and supporting the Transport Manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget / forecast expectations Working 4 on 4 off Nights, 6pm - 6am Key Duties of a Transport Shift Manager:

• Manage the Depot Transport staff to execute Traffic plans to enable delivery of products to customers within agreed service levels
• Reduce non contract maintenance and damage spends through the use of vehicle passports, monitoring of defects being raised.
• Ensure that all available fleet is on the road and declared to enable the Planning Team to plan the resource
• Manage the resourcing for the site through effective planning of both core drivers and shift patterns through to daily and weekly resourcing of agency drivers
• Manage holiday allocations of drivers ensuring there is enough resource to meet with customer requirements
• Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training and personal development plans
• Ensure all staff are fully trained and have the correct equipment
• Manage any incidents and accidents and follow the process through investigations and the EOA system
• Be responsible for Kronos monitoring and approving drivers clocking on and off shift
• Ensure that the Transport team and drivers comply with all relevant regulations and site procedures
• Ensure annual MOTs and service intervals on all fleet equipment are carried out on time and the relevant paperwork is obtained
• Attend Monthly Customer review meetings in the absence of the Transport Manager
• Support implementation of service improvements in conjunction with customers and other areas of the business
• Generate and implement ideas with regards to staff and operational changes, which will help drive continuous improvement
• Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff, both in your department and across the wider business
• Manage and carry out monthly site audit ensuring that all processes are being followed in line with Culina Group policy
