Job summary

Booker Group in Hoddesdon is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the Transport department, supported by an Assistant Shift Manager. You will ensure smooth running, drive efficiency and maintain high service levels across the multi-temp, shared delivery network serving our customers UK-wide.

The role requires at least 2 years in transport management, CPC qualification, and experience with SAP, Tachomaster and Microlise.

• At least 2 years of experience in a Transport management role.
• GCSE level education or equivalent.

• Demonstrate teamwork and effective communication at all levels.
• Carry out policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Ensure all legal compliance is adhered to.
• Monitor and control finances within the department.
• Drive standards and headcount to meet customer demands and objectives.
• Lead as emergency coordinator when required.
• Analyze systems and data to identify root causes.

About the role

We operate the UK’s ONLY flexible multi-temp, shared customer delivery logistics network. We buy, warehouse, pick and distribute the entire stock that goes into our customer’s stores across the UK, priding ourselves on quality of service.

We are looking for a Transport Shift Manager to lead the day to day running of the shift within the Transport department, with the support of the Transport Assistant Shift Manager.

You will support the Transport Manager where necessary and lead the department in their absence.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the operation runs smoothly and efficiently and lead the effective management of driver colleagues.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Assistant Shift Managers and colleagues.
• Lead a busy shift ensure operational compliance and customer satisfaction
• Achieve department KPI’s set by the business.
• Problem solves, overcome obstacles that arise during your shift.
• Always maintain total professionalism, whilst interacting with multiple colleagues and business departments.
• Demonstrate great teamwork, effective communication to all levels.
• Carrying out business policy and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Ensure all legal compliance is adhered too.
• Monitoring and control finances within the department.
• Drive business standards, ensure headcount achieves customer demands and deliver on objectives set by the business.
• Lead role when required as emergency coordinator.
• Analysis systems and data to effectively root cause.

You will need

• Must have at least 2 years experience within a Transport management role
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
• High degree of confidentiality, accuracy & effective communication
• Ability to lead an effective team
• Ability to challenge influence and give feedback
• Technical capability around systems and process flows
• Intermediate level of all Microsoft packages
• Ability to build effective relationships within & across departments.
• High level of problem solving
• High level of resilience
• CPC trained qualification
• SAP experience
• Tachomaster and Microlise experience
