Job summary

Booker is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Transport shift, supported by the Transport Assistant Shift Manager. You will assist the Transport Manager when needed and head the department in their absence.

You will drive efficiency, uphold compliance, and lead driver colleagues while maintaining high service standards across multi-temp, shared logistics networks. The role emphasizes teamwork and cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years in a Transport management role.
• High degree of confidentiality, accuracy & effective communication.

• Technical capability around systems and process flows.
• Intermediate level of all Microsoft packages.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Assistant Shift Managers and colleagues.
• Lead a busy shift to ensure operational compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Achieve department KPIs set by the business.
• Solve problems and overcome obstacles during shifts.
• Maintain professionalism and communicate effectively with colleagues and other departments.
• Demonstrate teamwork and strong communication at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Ensure all legal compliance is adhered to.
• Monitor and control finances within the department.
• Drive business standards to meet headcount demands and objectives.
• Lead role as emergency coordinator when required.
• Analyse systems and data to identify root causes.
• Monitor depot temperature control system.

We operate the UK’s ONLY flexible multi-temp, shared customer delivery logistics network. We buy, warehouse, pick and distribute the entire stock that goes into our customer’s stores across the UK, priding ourselves on quality of service.

We are looking for a Transport Shift Manager to lead the day to day running of the shift within the Transport department, with the support of the Transport Assistant Shift Manager.

You will support the Transport Manager where necessary and lead the department in their absence.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the operation runs smoothly and efficiently and lead the effective management of driver colleagues.

• Lead and develop a team of Assistant Shift Managers and colleagues.

• Drive business standards, ensure headcount achieves customer demands and deliver on objectives set by the business.

Essential:

• Must have at least 2 years experience within a Transport management role
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
• High degree of confidentiality, accuracy & effective communication

Desirable:

• CPC trained qualification
• SAP experience
• Tachomaster and Microlise experience
