Job summary

Booker Group plc is seeking a Transport Section Manager for our Haydock RDC2 site. You will lead the transport operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance, while managing drivers and day-to-day issues with a practical leadership style.

Flexibility is required as shift patterns will be discussed at interview. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards and delivering on KPIs, with a focus on collaboration with the People Team and cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Understanding of drivers' hours and tachographs.
• Knowledge of Working Time Regulations and road transport law.
• Experience with fleet planning tools such as Microlise, Tachomaster and Lytx.
• Strong IT skills with Microsoft 365 and Teams.
• Confident written and verbal communication.
• Practical leadership with initiative when busy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transport plan in line with KPIs and budget.
• Manage driver team day to day including 1-2-1s and issues.
• Lead health and safety activity and contractor management.
• Ensure Operator Licence requirements are met.
• Support People Team processes and payroll sign-off.
• Maintain clear handover and effective cross‑site communication.
