Booker is seeking a Transport Section Manager for Haydock RDC2 on a permanent basis. This role leads from the front, builds strong working relationships, and ensures safe, compliant and efficient operations.

The successful candidate will cover management holidays and adapt to changing shift patterns. You will oversee transport planning, supervise the driver team, and drive KPIs while prioritising health, safety and wellbeing across the site.

Qualifikationen

• Good understanding of drivers' hours, tachographs, Working Time Regulations and road transport law.
• National CPC qualification is desired.
• Working knowledge of Microlise, Tachomaster and Lytx, along with good geographical awareness.
• Good IT skills, strong organisation and the ability to keep accurate records using Microsoft 365 and Teams.
• Confident communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to work with people at all levels.
• Positive, practical approach and the initiative to handle busy periods.
• Supportive leadership style with focus on doing things the right way.
• Flexibility to support the operation and keep things running efficiently.

Aufgaben

• Make sure Operator Licence requirements are met, including drivers' hours, fleet usage and vehicle breakdowns, while keeping the operation safe and compliant.
• Oversee the daily transport plan in line with KPIs and budget, and manage drivers, loads and backhauls.
• Manage and support the driver team day to day, including 1-2-1s, issues, coaching and infringements, with strong leadership.
• Lead on health and safety activity, including contractor management and incident reporting.
• Support People Team processes, including absence, welfare, grievance and disciplinary matters.
• Complete accurate payroll sign-off for drivers' hours and absence; keep systems updated.
• Use the handover process to maintain clear, practical communication across the operation.
• Follow all legal, health and safety, and colleague requirements with wellbeing in focus.
