The Traffic and Transportation Section manages a wide range of services and functions across Derby’s busy transport network. These include traffic management, engineering and major projects, transforming cities and smart mobility, highways development management, transport planning and new streets.

We are looking for a flexible individual to help lead our Transport Planning function and increase our skill base. This will involve supporting the development management process, developing strategies to support sustainable growth plans and leading on studies to identify potential strategies and projects. We are seeking an individual with a balanced approach, who can protect the interests of the highway authority but also build relationships to find solutions to problems.

You will need either a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or significant experience that demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Transport Planning, relevant legislation and transportation issues. You will have good communication skills, team leadership skills and be able to manage a varied workload.
