Job summary

Freightliner is seeking a Transport Planner to join the London Gateway team. You will plan fleet, maximise utilisation, and ensure customer satisfaction, working with colleagues across the UK to deliver reliable scheduling and safe operations.

The role requires knowledge of Tachograph, working time rules, and experience in transport planning. You\'ll coordinate with depots, negotiate with subcontractors, and contribute to our award-winning safety culture.

Qualifications

• Full understanding of Tachograph, working time and drivers' hours regulations.
• Proven transport planning experience.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Excellent IT and communication skills.
• Experience with TOPS, Destin8 and VBS systems.
• Experience in container transport planning.

Responsibilities

• Produce a daily Transport Plan in line with customer orders and expectations and negotiate the best times to utilise the fleet.
• Utilise vehicles effectively to maximise daily revenue targets.
• Provide new work quotations.
• Resource subcontractors and ensure induction and company standards are communicated and agreed when using them.
• Negotiate subcontractor rates.
• Attend daily planning review meetings to approve next day/night plans.
• Ensure plans are cost-effective.
• Update systems accurately and utilise their functionality.
• Maintain high customer service levels across all customers.
• Collaborate with other depots across the UK to create a one-stop solution for customers.
