Job summary

Freightliner Ltd in London Gateway (Stanford-le-Hope) is seeking a Transport Planner to join our award‑winning planning team. You will plan the fleet, maximise utilisation and ensure customer satisfaction across our UK network.

You will work 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekend rota coverage. The role requires strong IT skills, knowledge of tachograph regulations and experience in transport planning within a multi-modal environment, ensuring safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Full understanding of Tachograph, working time and drivers’ hours regulations.
• Proven transport planning experience.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Excellent geographical knowledge.
• Excellent IT skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Have TOPS, Destin8 and VBS Systems knowledge
• Have previous container transport planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce a daily Transport Plan in line with customer orders and expectations, negotiating best times to best utilise the fleet.
• Utilise vehicles effectively to support and maximise daily revenue targets.
• Provide new work quotations.
• Resource subcontractors ensuring full induction and company standards are communicated.
• Negotiate subcontractor rates.
• Attend daily planning review meetings to approve next-day plans.
• Ensure plans are cost-effective.
• Update systems accurately and utilise their functionality.
• Maintain high customer service levels with all clients.
• Collaborate with other depots across the UK to create a one-stop solution.
