Job summary

Jewson is seeking a Transport Allocator for its Wimborne site to coordinate, allocate and optimise the daily delivery network. You will ensure orders are delivered safely, efficiently and cost-effectively while maximising vehicle capacity and adhering to transport legislation.

You will work 7am-4.30pm Mon-Fri with alternate Saturdays, collaborating with branches, drivers and transport colleagues to maintain OTIF performance and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or fleet scheduling.
• Good knowledge of routes and geographical area.
• Understanding of transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to build relationships across functions and communicate clearly.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and transport management systems.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and plan customer deliveries to meet delivery commitments and service levels.
• Maximise fleet utilisation while maintaining efficiency.
• Collaborate with branches to understand requirements and priorities.
• Identify and resolve delivery issues before they impact customers.
• Support OTIF performance targets and reporting.
• Communicate effectively with drivers and transport teams.
• Produce daily delivery schedules and vehicle allocations.
• Plan branch transfers and inter-branch deliveries cost-effectively.
• Monitor fleet capacity and suggest improvements.
• Support continuous improvement in transport operations and compliance.
