Job summary

Knowles Logistics in Wimblington, near March, is seeking a Load Planner to oversee the day-to-day transport planning for a busy operation. You will ensure loads meet customer requirements and coordinate with Warehouse and Dispatch teams to keep schedules on track.

The role requires at least 1 year of transport/planning experience, strong telephone manners, good UK geography, and solid MS Office skills. Commutable to Wimblington is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year's experience in a transport or planning office.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good UK Geographical Knowledge.
  • PC literate with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Transport IT/ web based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all loads are planned to meet customer requirements by:
  • Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations and utilization in order to coordinate service and schedules
  • Relay work orders, messages, and information to or from Warehouse and Transport teams
  • Plan the schedule to update the Warehouse, dispatch teams to ensure produce is moved to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs.
  • Confer with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment
  • Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information
  • Promptly answering telephone in a professional manner and dealing with field and customer enquiries
  • Liaise with Warehousing and Traffic teams to understand unplanned issues and offer resolutions in planning to the management of loads
  • Maximise Load Fill for all outbound deliveries
  • Maximise Synergies between the Warehouse and Knowles groups
  • Determine types or amounts of loads and vehicles required to build work orders
  • RE-booking of failures
  • Consolidate other customers work with movements external to Wimblington

The Role:

As a Transport Planner you will be responsible for completing and overseeing the day-to-day planning function of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a quick and fast-paced environment and be able to deal with day-to-day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.

Must Have skills / experience:

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience of working within a transport or planning office
  • Excellent Telephone manner
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good UK Geographical Knowledge
  • Highly organised and adaptable to fast paced changing situations
  • Highly competent with PC literate - Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Transport IT/ web based systems
  • The ability to work flexibly within a team and make changes to plans at short notice
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Customer focused at all times ensuring top quality service levels
  • Professional in appearance and manner
