Job summary

First Fence in Canvey Island is seeking a Transport Planner to keep daily delivery operations running smoothly and efficiently. You’ll plan driver schedules for deliveries and collections and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Key duties include routing and dispatch, capacity planning, driver management, compliance and reporting. The role offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 13:00–21:00, with a salary of £30,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in transport administration, planning, or logistics role.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, proficiency in IT/transport management software, and strong geographical knowledge.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication skills for working with drivers and customers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Routing and Dispatch: manage vehicle movements and optimise routes to minimise travel time and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Capacity Planning: assess capacity requirements based on demand forecasts and orders.
• Driver Management: oversee attendance and performance of drivers.
• Debriefs: conduct driver debriefs to review operations and improve processes.
• Communication: coordinate with drivers, track vehicle locations, and manage hours compliance.
• Customer Service: act as first point of contact for clients and resolve delivery issues.
• Compliance: ensure vehicles and drivers comply with UK transport regulations and safety standards.
• Administration: maintain digital records, update transport management systems, and generate reports.
• Problem-Solving: identify and resolve transportation issues and adjust plans as needed.
• Vehicle Maintenance: schedule maintenance and ensure fleet roadworthiness.
• Recruitment: support recruitment for depot drivers and transport staff.
• Supplier Liaison: liaise with external suppliers for maintenance and service partners.
