Job summary

Culina is seeking a Transport Planner to join our Warrington-based team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will plan and coordinate transport activities, optimise resource use, and support operational performance while ensuring customer requirements are met.

The role requires strong IT skills, FMCG experience, and excellent communication in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include depot log upkeep, trailer/input management, driver hours monitoring, and back-to-back planning across

Qualifications

• Experience planning 100+ tractor units across multiple depots in FMCG environments.
• Strong communication skills in pressurised settings and customer-focused.
• Excellent knowledge of the UK geography and routing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate transport activities to meet customer requirements while maximising resource utilisation.
• Ensure depot logs and housekeeping are kept up to date.
• Input trailer numbers promptly and check shift resource availability.
• Monitor and report on empty legs, Time Lapse and Restricted Parking to improve utilisation.
• Complete Microlise debriefs, report system errors and maintain records.
• Confirm driver start times for the following day and set resource requirements.
• Monitor drivers' hours and WTD compliance and escalate issues.
• Maintain clear driver communication and smooth handovers between shifts.
• Manage transport plans in line with customer requirements and volume demands.
• Support the Transport Manager with Back-to-Back preparations and planning.
• Undertake Back-to-Back tracking during the F1 season with regular updates.

Job description

We are looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating transport activities, ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently while maximising resource utilisation and supporting operational performance.,

• Ensure GTS housekeeping is completed and depot logs are updated within required timescales.
• Input trailer numbers as soon as practical and check resource availability for the shift.
• Monitor and report empty legs, Time Lapse and Restricted Parking reports, identifying opportunities to improve utilisation.
• Complete Microlise debriefs, report system errors, and maintain accurate operational records.
• Confirm driver start times for the following day and manage resource requirements accordingly.
• Monitor drivers' hours and WTD compliance, escalating any issues or concerns to the Operations team.
• Maintain clear communication with drivers and ensure effective handovers between shifts.
• Manage transport plans in line with customer requirements and volume demands.
• Support the Transport Manager with all Back-to-Back preparations and planning activities.
• Undertake Back-to-Back tracking during the F1 season, providing regular updates to the team and customers.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK
• Proficient in computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Work and Outlook
• CPC Desirable but not required
• Experience of planning 100+ tractor units across multiple depots
• Excellent communication skills and ability to succeed in a pressurised environment
• Customer focus on delivery performance
• Commercially and Financially astute and driven to deliver exceptional results.
• Experience of using a TMS system
• Experience in an FMCG environment
