Proactive Personnel Ltd is recruiting a Transport Planner for their busy operation in Telford. The role focuses on planning and coordinating deliveries, liaising with drivers and customers, and keeping transport operations efficient and cost‑effective.

The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and capable of handling a fast‑paced environment, with the ability to prioritise and resolve issues quickly. 45 hours per week, permanent position, salary £32,000 per annum.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate vehicle movements and deliveries according to customer requirements.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, depots and internal teams on schedules and updates.
• Identify and resolve transport issues proactively.
• Respond to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
• Maintain accurate transport records and complete administration.
• Support accounts and invoicing with delivery queries.
• Monitor KPIs and report on performance.
• Ensure planning complies with procedures, regulations and health and safety.
• Assist with fleet compliance planning including vehicle inspection schedules.
• Perform other duties as required.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 7:30pm

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Planner to join their busy transport operation in Telford. This is a key position within the traffic office, responsible for planning and coordinating deliveries, liaising with drivers and customers, and ensuring transport operations run efficiently and cost‑effectively.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and confident working in a fast‑paced transport environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate vehicle movements and deliveries in line with customer requirements.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, depots and internal teams regarding schedules and operational updates.
• Identify and resolve transport and delivery issues proactively.
• Respond to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
• Maintain accurate transport records and complete relevant administration.
• Support the accounts and invoicing team with delivery-related queries.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Ensure transport planning activities comply with company procedures, industry regulations and health and safety requirements.
• Support fleet compliance planning, including vehicle inspection schedules.
• Assist with other reasonable duties and ad hoc tasks as required.

About You

• Previous experience within a transport, logistics or traffic planning environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy operational environment.
• Knowledge or experience of transport planning systems would be advantageous.
