Job summary

The Best Connection Tamworth is hiring a Transport Planner to join a busy logistics team in Tamworth. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills and proven transport planning experience within the UK pallet network.

You will plan and optimise daily trunking routes and support trunking operations across the network. In this role you will manage hub runs, allocate consignments by postcode and service level, and adjust routes in real time to handle delays while ensuring driver hours

Qualifications

• Previous route planning or traffic office experience.
• Strong UK geography and postcode knowledge.
• Understanding of driver’s hours and transport compliance.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Experience using transport planning systems.

Responsibilities

• Planning and optimising daily trunking and delivery routes.
• Managing hub runs and local delivery schedules.
• Allocating consignments based on postcode, service levels, and network cut-off times.
• Adjusting routes in real time to manage delays, breakdowns, and volume changes.
• Liaising with depots to ensure network KPIs and schedules are achieved.
• Producing accurate manifests and load sequencing.
• Ensuring compliance with driver’s hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
• Supporting drivers with briefings, issue resolution, and daily communication.
• Working closely with warehouse and customer service teams.
