Job summary

Connect Appointments is recruiting a Transport Planner to join a busy logistics operation based in Larkhall, Scotland. The role focuses on planning and scheduling delivery routes, allocating drivers and vehicles, and adapting plans to ever-changing conditions to maximise efficiency.

You will monitor live progress, ensure drivers’ hours compliance, and maintain clear communication with drivers, customers and internal teams during each shift.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning, route scheduling or logistics coordination.
• Knowledge of drivers’ hours and transport compliance.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Confident using transport management systems and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule delivery routes to maximise efficiency.
• Allocate drivers and vehicles to meet daily delivery requirements.
• Adjust plans in response to operational changes, delays and driver availability.

Connect Appointments is recruiting a Transport Planner to join an established logistics business based in Larkhall.

What’s on offer?

• Ongoing temporary position
• 4-on 4-off shift pattern, 10am to 6pm
  • Hours may vary depending on delivery requirements
• Paid weekly at £14.83 per hour

As a Transport Planner, your duties will include:

• Planning and scheduling delivery routes to maximise efficiency
• Allocating drivers and vehicles to meet daily delivery requirements
• Adjusting plans in response to operational changes, delays and driver availability
• Monitoring live route progress and resolving issues as they arise
• Ensuring compliance with drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive and transport regulations
• Liaising with drivers, customers and internal teams throughout the shift

To be considered as a Transport Planner, you will need:

• Previous experience in transport planning, route scheduling or logistics coordination
• A good working knowledge of drivers’ hours and transport compliance
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confident using transport management systems and spreadsheets
