Job summary

Time Appointments Ltd in Colchester is seeking a Transport Planner to join a busy transport and logistics team. You will manage day-to-day transport movements, build strong customer relationships and help ensure operations run efficiently.

Working Mon-Fri, with 22 days holiday and on-site parking. You will plan routes, prepare quotes, monitor performance and keep accurate records, with training provided on internal systems and processes. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience in HGV transport planning.
• Knowledge of general haulage, containers, trailers or specialist transport.
• Training will be provided on internal systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily transport movements (deliveries and collections).
• Prepare quotes and pricing for transport requirements.
• Monitor operational performance and commercial figures.
• Build relationships with customers and meet their requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues to manage priorities and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records and update internal systems.

Job description

We're working with an established business in the transport and logistics sector that is looking to strengthen its planning team, by recruiting a Transport Planner. You'll be joining an experienced group, managing day-to-day transport requirements, building strong customer relationships and helping ensure operations run efficiently.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Planning and coordinating daily transport movements, including deliveries and collections
• Preparing quotes and pricing transport requirements for a range of customers
• Keeping a close eye on operational performance and commercial figures
• Building relationships with customers and ensuring their requirements are met
• Working closely with colleagues to manage changing priorities and resolve day-to-day challenges
• Maintaining accurate records and keeping internal systems up to date

Skills & Experience Required:

You'll ideally have at least 1-2 years' experience in HGV transport planning, with knowledge of areas such as general haulage, containers, trailers or specialist transport. Experience with different vehicle types is welcome, and training will be provided on internal systems and processes.

You'll also bring:

• Strong geographical knowledge and the ability to plan routes effectively
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Confidence using IT systems, including Excel and Word
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• A practical, team-focused approach and the confidence to make decisions
• A full UK driving licence

What's on offer?

• Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum (D.O.E)
• Working hours: Monday to Friday, with no regular weekend working.
• Holiday: 22 days plus bank holidays (Remote on-call responsibilities as required)
