Job summary

Fowler Welch in the United Kingdom is seeking a Transport Supervisor for our Teynham site to oversee traffic and driver teams on a full-time permanent basis. You will plan resources, manage vehicle utilisation, and ensure drivers receive clear instructions to meet service targets.

The role requires FMCG transport experience, supervisory skills, and strong IT and communication abilities. Shift is Wednesday to Saturday, 7am–7pm, with a competitive salary of £37k–£41k per year.

Qualifications

• Transport experience ideally in a FMCG environment.
• Previous Supervisory experience
• Able to work effectively in a team.
• Good national geographical knowledge.
• The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
• Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
• Thoroughness/attention to detail.
• Knowledge & experience of tachograph / driving rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure colleagues work within a safe environment and that the transport operation, and its drivers, operates within current transport regulations.
• Manage driver performance using available technology; monitor hours, infringements, driving style and vehicle checks.
• Plan & control equipment and resources to meet service level targets.
• Plan effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles and agency drivers.
• Ensure all elements of the job are communicated to Transport team and drivers.
• Liaise with customers regarding concerns impacting service levels.
• Undertake additional tasks/duties as required by management.
• Maintain department discipline with HR support and disciplinary procedures.
• Identify training needs and coach colleagues using company tools.
• Support and deputise Transport Manager in meetings or reviews.
• Close liaison with team to discuss efficiencies and practices.
