Job summary

Nter Talent is seeking an experienced Transport Team Manager to lead a busy Coventry operation. You will manage drivers and coordinators, oversee HGV fleets, and ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective deliveries across multi-drop routes.

The role demands hands-on leadership, strong knowledge of operator licence and tachographs, and the ability to drive performance through KPIs. It offers a 4-on/4-off shift pattern, day and night rotations, and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Transport Management or Transport Operations Management
• Strong HGV/fleet management knowledge
• Experience managing drivers and operational teams
• Experience with multi-drop distribution and transport planning
• Understanding of Operator Licence compliance, Drivers' Hours, Working Time Regulations and tachographs
• Experience in temperature-controlled or food distribution (desirable)
• Knowledge of transport KPIs, reporting and performance management
• Proficient in Transport Management Systems and MS Office
• Excellent communication and people-management skills
• Calm under pressure with a hands-on, team-focused approach

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day transport operation including drivers, coordinators, vehicles and schedules
• Oversee a fleet of HGVs ensuring safe and efficient operation
• Run multi-drop transport planning and deliveries
• Ensure compliance with Operator Licence, Drivers' Hours, Working Time Regulations and tachographs
• Monitor transport performance, KPIs and costs
• Manage end-to-end delivery of temperature-controlled products
• Conduct performance reviews and address issues with drivers
• Manage HR processes including absence, disciplinary and grievances
• Investigate incidents and ensure health and safety standards
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain service levels
• Identify efficiency improvements and resource optimisation
• Support wider management and operation success
