Job summary

Transport First Line Manager role at DHL in Ashton-under-Lyne is a permanent, full-time leadership position responsible for supervising daily transport activities and driving operational excellence. You will manage drivers and the transport clerical team, ensure legal compliance, and work closely with warehouse colleagues while delivering continuous improvement and high service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven people management experience within a transport environment.
• Experience in a transport office or wider supply chain operation.
• Experience in a unionised environment and building positive relationships.
• Competent in Microsoft Office; Tachomaster experience desirable.
• Adaptable and resilient to change and new processes.
• International CPC level 3 qualification advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, implement and coordinate productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring deadlines are met safely and to standards.
• Ensure drivers are legal and compliant daily/weekly and coordinate with transport and warehouse functions.
• Lead the work activities of drivers and the transport clerical team with effective leadership and development.
• Carry out HR management tasks such as staff reviews, appraisals, absence management and disciplinaries.
