Job summary

Gist Ltd is seeking a Network Planner to coordinate transport movements for Marks & Spencer and Ocado across the UK. You will build efficient plans, respond to live issues and drive improvements with sites, suppliers and customers.

This 12-month fixed-term contract welcomes a proactive problem-solver who communicates clearly and works well under pressure. You’ll report to a Network Team Leader, plan from food manufacturers to regional centres, and ensure cost-effective, high-quality service

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning or scheduling in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Comfortable using IT systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan product movements from manufacturers to regional distribution centres to optimise network use.
• Monitor plans to achieve KPIs and identify efficiency improvements and cost savings.
• Review depot and customer plans for opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Plan replenishment and return of delivery equipment from regional centres to suppliers.
• Respond quickly to live customer and operational issues.
• Communicate with customers, sites, suppliers and colleagues by phone and email.
• Collaborate with wider transport and logistics to deliver the best service.
• Think creatively to solve transport and network challenges.
• Maintain focus on service, cost and operational performance.

The Opportunity

As a Network Planner at Gist, you will play a key role in planning the movement of products through the Gist network for Marks & Spencer and Ocado.

This is a fast paced and varied role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with sites, suppliers and customers across the UK to create efficient transport plans, respond to live operational challenges and identify opportunities to improve network performance.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, thinks creatively and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. Your ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively will be essential to your success.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, therefore we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible!

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting into a Network Team Leader you will be responsible for:

• Plan product movements from food manufacturers to our regional distribution centres, ensuring efficient use of the network and minimising the number of routes required.
• Monitor and manage plans to ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved and exceeded.
• Review depot and customer plans to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings.
• Plan the replenishment and return of delivery equipment from regional distribution centres to suppliers, based on individual supplier requirements.
• Respond quickly and effectively to live customer and operational issues.
• Confidently communicate with customers, sites, suppliers and colleagues by telephone and email.
• Work collaboratively with wider transport and logistics operations to deliver the best possible service.
• Think creatively and identify practical solutions to transport and network challenges.
• Maintain a strong focus on service, cost, efficiency and operational performance.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment. You will ideally have experience in transport planning or scheduling, but just as importantly, you will bring the right attitude, communication skills and willingness to learn.

You Will Be

• Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

It would be desirable, but not essential if you have experience of transport scheduling or transport planning with Knowledge of the Working Time Directive (WTD) and Drivers' Hours regulations.

Salary: Start on £30,000per annum

Hours: 4 on 4 off shift, working 6:30am to 6:30pm.
