Job summary

Gist Limited is seeking a Network Planner to design transport plans across the UK network for the Gist/M&S operation. You will report to a Network Team Leader and use Paragon planning software to create efficient depot-to-customer routes that meet service requirements while cutting costs and environmental impact.

The role requires a proactive, collaborative planner with strong communication skills, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to work with depots, customers and colleagues.

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Network Planner to join our team, planning products through the Gist network for Marks & Spencer. This is a varied and rewarding role where your decisions will have a direct impact on service, efficiency, cost and sustainability across the UK transport network.

What you'll be doing

Reporting into a Network Team Leader you will be responsible for creating efficient transport plans that meet demanding service requirements while identifying opportunities to continually improve the network. You will:

• Use Paragon planning software to create efficient transport plans for depots and associated customers.
• Analyse plans to identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
• Balancing operational requirements with customer service and commercial objectives.
• Working closely with operational teams to implement new initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
• Building strong working relationships with depots, customers and colleagues across the UK.
• Thinking creatively and outside the box to overcome challenges and develop smarter transport solutions.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who is motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment. You will ideally have experience in transport planning or scheduling, but just as importantly, you will bring the right attitude, communication skills and willingness to learn.

You will be:

• Highly motivated and driven by challenges.
• Passionate, enthusiastic and committed to delivering high standards.
• Comfortable working under pressure and making decisions in a fast moving environment.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A strong relationship builder who can communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Natural communicator and creative problem solver, able to find solutions to operational challenges.
• Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

It would be desirable, but not essential if you have experience of transport scheduling or transport planning with Knowledge of the Working Time Directive (WTD) and Drivers' Hours regulations.

Salary: Start on £30,000per annum, this increases to £35,000per annum after 2 years of service.
Hours:4 on 4 off shift, working 7am to 7pm.
