Axis Logistics is a member of the Prax Group providing streamlined road tanker logistics operations and supplying premium fuel to our many customers across the UK.

Based at our Kingsbury site, with regular travel to Thurrock, we are seeking an experienced Transport Manager, reporting to our Operations and Fleet Manager, to ensure legal compliance and safety of all our vehicles and drivers.

This is a full-time permanent position offering an excellent salary, company car/car allowance, company benefits, and career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring legal compliance and safety of all drivers and vehicles
2. Managing HR processes including sickness and absence, grievance and disciplinary procedures
3. Conducting thorough and accurate incident investigations
4. Liaising with unions
5. Implementing measures to ensure systems of work are being adhered to
6. Conducting toolbox talks, training, and driver engagement at all locations
7. Recruitment and selection of drivers and Traffic office team
8. Managing the service, inspection, and repair of the fleet
9. Driver performance management
10. Managing driver rota and holiday planning
11. Producing and compiling risk assessments for delivery sites
12. Providing leadership and direction to the transport team and feedback on performance
13. Conducting monthly depot audits
14. Leading by example to promote a safe, compliant working environment
15. Effective communication with stakeholders
16. Maintaining good geographical knowledge
17. Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancement and implementing corrective measures
18. Managing driver training, assessment, and qualification processes

Personal Specification:

• In-depth experience in all aspects of road transport, ideally including fuel distribution
• Strong leadership skills
• National or International CPC qualification
• Experience working in a highly unionised environment with strong administrative and communication skills
