Job summary

Greencore is seeking a Transport Manager in Hatfield to lead our depot team and maintain safety, compliance, and efficient distribution. You will oversee fleet maintenance, scheduling, budgeting, and communication with sites and customers. The role requires CPC, budgeting experience, and a proactive Lean mindset.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage energy and cost controls, and ensure accurate customer billing via handheld delivery tech, while supporting the wider Greencore network.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
• Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is a legal requirement for holder of the operating license.
• Previous experience in Transport Management and strategic distribution modelling.
• Highfield Level 2 or experience of building a safety-first culture.
• Evidence of leading and engaging with geographically dispersed teams.
• Evidence of setting and managing budgets and promoting cost efficiency.
• Evidence of delivering business improvement through Lean practices.
• Working with customers to build sustained relationships.
• Knowledge of telematics (ISOTRAK or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the team to ensure engagement and performance.
• Promote and monitor safety and compliance with road traffic act as priorities.
• Oversee fleet maintenance and compliance with vehicle checks and servicing.
• Maintain close communication with Greencore sites and customers on schedules.
• Establish programmes for efficient and cost‑effective transport operations.
• Construct budgets and driver rosters; adapt plans with planning teams.
