Job summary

Boughey Distribution is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to lead the day-to-day operations across three depots, ensuring safe, legal, on‑time deliveries and high service levels. You will manage dispatch, routing, and driver allocation, while driving continuous improvement and cost control.

You will supervise a transport office team, maintain strong safety culture, report on KPIs, and support recruitment and training. A proactive leader with strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing a fast-paced transport operation.
• Previous leadership experience within a transport or logistics environment.
• Strong understanding of UK transport legislation including Driver Hours, Tachograph Regulations, and Operator Licence compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transport operation during the assigned shift, ensuring all planned deliveries are executed efficiently.
• Manage daily dispatch, routing, driver allocation, and vehicle utilisation.
• Monitor transport performance against KPIs including OTIF, vehicle utilisation, cost per delivery, and service levels.
• Respond quickly to operational issues, customer requirements, vehicle breakdowns, traffic disruption, and staffing shortages.
• Ensure effective shift handovers with clear communication of operational priorities and outstanding issues.
