Job Description
As Transport Manager, you will ensure the effective operation of the Transport function, drive continuous improvements, and further develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost-effective service. You will produce, agree, and manage the Transport budget, accounting for variances. Take a proactive approach to fully engage in new initiatives at the depot, ensuring successful project integration aligned with business needs.
Qualifications: A CPC would be beneficial.
What will you be doing?
- Seek optimisation proactively without affecting service levels.
- Integrate and control new cross-dock clients where applicable.
- Manage an increased vehicle fleet, including offsite parking.
- Ensure efficiency and effectiveness across all operational areas.
- Direct, motivate, and develop team members to enhance their leadership skills.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory health & safety and transport regulations.
- Manage approved 3rd party hauliers for national and international journeys.
- Communicate effectively throughout the transport operation.
- Propose, agree, and implement service standard agreements with customers.
- Implement improvements to staff and operational activities to enhance performance.
- Maintain a secure and safe environment for staff and products.
- Support initiatives to reduce the company's carbon footprint, such as recycling programs.
- Interface with major customers, including meetings and reviews.
- Work within tight deadlines for new initiatives.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Transport Department.
- Maintain Operator Licences efficiently and accurately, with contingency planning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage new legislation proactively.
- Manage the Transport Department using KPI measures.
- Make effective day-to-day decisions for administration teams.
- Manage key supplier relationships for quality and cost.
- Oversee significant UK and continental supplier collections.
- Plan and control staff activities to achieve efficiency and objectives.
Qualifications
