Job Description
As Transport Manager, you will ensure the effective operation of the Transport function, drive continuous improvements, and develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost-effective service. You will manage the Transport budget, accounting for variances, and proactively engage with new initiatives at the depot to ensure successful integration aligned with business needs.
Qualifications beneficial for success in this role include a CPC.
Key Responsibilities
- Seek operational optimisation without compromising service quality.
- Integrate and control new cross-dock clients where applicable.
- Manage an expanded vehicle fleet, including offsite parking.
- Coordinate between all operational areas to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead, motivate, and develop team members to enhance leadership skills.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and transport regulations.
- Manage relationships with approved 3rd party hauliers for national and international journeys.
- Communicate effectively across the transport operation.
- Develop and implement service standard agreements with customers.
- Propose and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
- Maintain a secure and safe environment for staff and products.
- Support initiatives to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
- Engage with major customers through meetings, reviews, and ad hoc requests.
- Work within tight deadlines for new initiatives.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Transport Department.
- Maintain Operator Licences efficiently and plan contingencies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage new legislation proactively.
- Manage the department through KPI metrics and daily decision-making.
- Interface with retailers regarding supplier management for quality and cost.
- Oversee significant UK and continental supplier collections.
- Plan and control staffing to achieve operational efficiency.
Qualifications

- Operational experience in a food transport environment.

- Extensive transport experience in FMCG.
