Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Head of Health & Safety for our Group Transport unit. You will provide strategic leadership, expert safety guidance, and ensure compliance across sites, promoting a proactive safety culture aligned with Road to Zero.

Your role involves leading QHSE initiatives, coordinating with leadership, and embedding strong governance to drive risk reduction and continuous improvement; travel and overnight stays are required.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or IOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety.
• Full UK Driving Licence with ability to travel by sea, air, rail, and tunnel.
• Willingness to work unsociable hours and overnight stays when required.
• 5 to 7 years experience within a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all sites within the BU are using and maintaining GXO electronic systems for reporting, recording and investigation of all relevant activities.
• Work with QHSE leadership, BU Directors, Account Directors and Regional EHS Managers to align improvement plans and share best practices.
• Develop BU QHSE Objectives and align to UK&I strategy; monitor via a Management Action Plan (MAP).
• Ensure full compliance with legal/regulatory obligations, internal policies, and ISO standards (ISO 45001, 14001, 9001).
• Collaborate with quality, operations, and security teams to maintain audit readiness and strong safety documentation.
