Job summary

Bidfood UK in Slough is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead the transport operation, ensure compliance, and drive a safe, efficient fleet.

You will coach drivers and support staff, manage a large HGV fleet, and implement robust processes to meet service levels while controlling costs. The role offers a competitive salary + benefits and requires CPC qualification and proven leadership in logistics.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Transport Manager or senior transport leadership role.
• National or International CPC qualification.
• Proven experience managing a large HGV fleet, including maintenance planning, defect management, and coordinating vehicle repairs with external garages and service providers to maximise fleet availability, safety, and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing large driver teams within a distribution or logistics environment.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, including Operator Licence requirements, Driver Hours Regulations, and Working Time Directive.
• Develop and coach a team of drivers, transport team managers and administrative colleagues.
• Drive a strong health, safety, and compliance culture throughout the department.
• Investigate incidents, manage corrective actions, and ensure robust compliance processes are maintained.
• Manage a large fleet of HGV vehicles, ensuring maximum fleet availability, compliance and maintenance scheduling.
