Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Transport First Line Manager for the PM shift at our Aylesford RDC. You will oversee Partners and agency staff, maintain service levels and manage costs within budget in a 24/7 distribution environment.

The role requires strong transport knowledge, leadership experience in transport/distribution, and adherence to health and safety standards. Applicants should be prepared to work a 14:00–22:00 shift, with occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of current EU Transport regulations and Working Time rules.
• Experience managing teams in a Transport/Distribution environment.
• Solid understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
• Experience applying ACAS disciplinary procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage performance, wellbeing and development of all Partners in your team.
• Maximise productivity and manage overtime and agency usage to improve costs.
• Implement new projects to improve efficiency of the operation.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement across the department.
• Ensure safety by following all Legal, Health, Safety procedures and regulations.
• Deputise for Transport Shift Manager when needed.
