Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is hiring a Transport First Line Manager for the Aylesford RDC. You will lead Partners and agency staff across a 24/7 transport operation, ensuring productivity and first-class service within budget while maintaining safety and compliance.

The role includes overseeing weekend work as needed. The position involves managing performance, championing cost controls, and delivering continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing teams in transport/distribution environments.
• Solid knowledge of EU Working Time regulations.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience handling disciplinary procedures per ACAS guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Manage performance, wellbeing and development of Partners.
• Maximise productivity and control overtime and agency costs.
• Lead and implement projects to improve operational efficiency.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
• Ensure safety by following all health, safety, and regulatory procedures.
• Cover for Transport Shift Manager in their absence.
