Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Transport First Line Manager for the PM shift at our Aylesford RDC. You will lead Partners and agency staff, ensure safe and productive operations, and uphold customer service standards in a 24/7 distribution environment.

The role covers managing performance, implementing efficiency projects, and deputising for the Transport Shift Manager when required. This is a full-time, permanent position with weekend work and shift pattern 14:00–22:00.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of EU Working Time regulations.
• Experience managing a Transport/Distribution team.
• Strong Health and Safety compliance understanding.
• Experience handling disciplinary procedures per ACAS.

Responsibilities

• Manage performance, wellbeing and development of Partners.
• Maximise productivity and manage overtime and agency usage.
• Implement projects to improve operation efficiency.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the department.
• Ensure safety by following all procedures and regulations.
• Deputise for the Transport Shift Manager in their absence.
